Afrocandela has received important awards and recognitions. The SCD (Chilean Society of authors and musicians) awarded Afrocandela recognitions in 2016 & 2017 for their participation in the Vina del Mar international music festival. In 2017, Afrocandela received an award by the Cultural Affairs of Peru for their outstanding contribution to disseminate Peruvian music around the world.
The Government and Ministry of Culture of Peru together with the City Hall of Lima, with the sponsorship of the Center of investigation and human advancement and, in commemoration of the international decade for the people of African Descent by the United Nations, awarded Maribel Chira as an author and composer and her Afrocandela band, the title of Ambassadors of Afro-Peruvian music for their important contribution to the Peruvian musical culture.
Afrocandela has made important presentations in Lima such as the Latin American Meeting of Educational Mathematics (Relme31) held for the first time in Lima, from July 31 to August 4, 2017, on the campus of the University of Lima. It is an annual meeting of researchers, professors and undergraduate or graduate students from different Latin American countries interested in educational mathematics that promotes and fosters communication and interrelation between educational institutions, research centers, government agencies, countries and cultures.
In July 2018 he had an excellent presentation at one of the most important cultural events in the country, such as the International Book Fair of Lima, who was invited to Spain this year.
He has also made presentations at important clubs such as the Regatas Lima, schools and municipalities kermesse in order to spread more our Afro-Peruvian culture and music.
